Rev. Linda D. Girouex,

Linda was ordained to the ministry of word and
sacrament by the United Church of Christ on June 2, 2002. She was the first
woman candidate for ministry received by the Suwannee Presbytery (PCUS) in
1968. She attended Columbia Theological Seminary, Decatur, GA, and
graduated from the Iliff School of Theology, Denver, CO, in May 1977.
Linda has worked as a professional in several areas over the years:
Ministry
- assistant pastor - 3 years
Education
- classroom teacher and guidance counselor - 14 years
Mental
Health - therapist, SED children; family-based treatment,
children in foster care - 2 years
Social
Services - program coordinator, acculturation for Bosnian
refugees; counselor / director, AIDS Care Education Anchor
Program - 5 years
In 2002 Linda recognized the need for a new faith community
in the Riverside area of Jacksonville. She pulled together a
visioning team, communicated with
Florida Conference and as
the founding pastor, along with her partner of 20+ years,
began the work of inviting her congregation. Thus, RUCC was
born. She loves to say, “Look what God has done!”
"Ministry for me is holding out the inclusive love of Jesus
Christ day after day, week after week; and believing that no
matter what I see in the world around me, there is
hope…there is always hope."
