Our Mission

We are an unlikely group of people who have been brought together by God to share love and the warmth of God's Presence with others.

We are a congregation grounded in a spirituality that calls forth a need to be involved in social justice issues of our time. We are a prayerful and energized group of diverse souls united in God's spirit. We are a faith community that embraces, nurtures, reconciles, and celebrates God’s creative love for all people as revealed in the person of Jesus Christ and experienced in the Holy Spirit.

In March 2009, God moved us to our beautiful new church home on the corner of Post and Cherry. Since that time we have been singing hymns that have filled the sanctuary with songs of praise and adoration for all that God has done for us in creating and sustaining our family of faith. Recently, as we were singing the last hymn in the service, I was struck again by what worship really means at Riverside United Church of Christ. It is a coming together in God’s Presence; it is singing from the heart, it is an experience of wonderful love and community. We are a family rich with diversity and gifts for ministry and a truly amazing atmosphere of celebration Sunday after Sunday. There is joy here, there is hope here, there is peace here and there is, especially, love here. As we move forward at Riverside United Church of Christ, I am still in awe over what God has done with us and through us these past six years.
